Vending Machine Product Development and Business Model (2013.4~2013.8)

Funded by TROPOX Inc., Co-PI(PI is Dr. KJ Wang, Industrial Management, NTUST)

Automatic vending machine is the major product line of TROPOX Inc. Especially, the “Capsule Toy” vending machine is one of products which TROPOX will announce in the near future. In this project, through the lecturing cooperation with TROPOX, we used capsule toy vending machine as a case study for students to discuss the future product development. In the classroom, the “design thinking” activities were hosted to brainstorm the new ideas about sales strategy of capsule toy vending machine. Also, we developed a prototype of capsule toy vending machine which integrated the EASY card and wireless sensors to easily expand the vending machine layout.


E-Inventory Management and Sales Decision Support System (2013.6~2013.10)

In order to improve PeCo company’s inventory management, we developed a web-based system to handle the daily inventory management. The system can also provide the lots of sales reports for sale personnel to update the inventory information for better sales decision making. This system can simplify the process of inventory control which originally handled by paper work handling. Through the developed system, sales personnel can easily retrieve the inventory and price information from the database. Based on the most updated information, the better pricing strategy can be proceeded on site when sales person is dealing with the produce pricing and ordering.

 


Apply Lean Management to Improve the Processing of Warehouse in Mold Industry (2013.6~2014.5)

This research aims at developing the “Lean Management” scheme to assist the mold industry on enhancing the efficiency of warehouse management. Hong-Yu Industrial Company, a typical mold industrial company in Taiwan, is facing the challenges of business transformation and industry offshore to mainland China. In order to meet the higher quality requirement from its customer, Hong-Yu Company not only needs to provide the better quality product, but also maintains the higher efficiency on running its business. In this project, our research team including professors and graduate students utilized the lean management skills and follow the 5S methods to improve the processing of the warehouse which is located in Hong-Yu’s third factory. This project will also study the managerial strategy on warehousing management particularly for small lot production which is very common for mold industry. Through this project, the better space and routing planning will be recommended for Hong-Yu company. The evaluation and appraisal procedure is delivered to the corresponding department and expect to have >25% efficiency improvement on space utilization and routing time.
