The laboratory is directed by <strong data-start=\"341\" data-end=\"363\">Dr. Chao-Lung Yang<\/strong>. The primary focus of the laboratory\u2019s research is on leveraging <strong data-start=\"429\" data-end=\"463\">artificial intelligence models<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"468\" data-end=\"484\">data science<\/strong> methodologies to analyze system information and extract valuable knowledge or insights, which are then transformed into <strong data-start=\"605\" data-end=\"629\">management decisions<\/strong> through <strong data-start=\"638\" data-end=\"661\">operations research<\/strong> approaches.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"675\" data-end=\"711\">What Is System Informatics (SI)?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"713\" data-end=\"1329\">System Informatics is a <strong data-start=\"737\" data-end=\"783\">multidisciplinary and integrative approach<\/strong> that aims to make information processing, analysis, and application within complex systems more <strong data-start=\"880\" data-end=\"909\">streamlined and efficient<\/strong>. The term \u201ccomplex systems\u201d here is not limited to information systems alone; it encompasses systems in <strong data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1081\">natural sciences, engineering, services, and management domains<\/strong>. To cope with the increasing volume, velocity, and real-time nature of information, System Informatics emphasizes the integration of <strong data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1269\">information technologies and data analytics models<\/strong>, adopting a <strong data-start=\"1282\" data-end=\"1328\">data-driven and practice-oriented approach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1367\">What Is Management Science (MS)?<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1369\" data-end=\"1939\">Management Science is a discipline dedicated to applying <strong data-start=\"1426\" data-end=\"1448\">scientific methods<\/strong> to support managerial decision-making and solve management-related problems. Management problems can be described as the gap between the <strong data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1603\">current state<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1612\" data-end=\"1629\">desired state<\/strong> in a decision-making process, such as issues related to <strong data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1709\">resource allocation<\/strong> or <strong data-start=\"1713\" data-end=\"1742\">cost\u2013benefit optimization<\/strong>.
